Rules & fairness · version 7 · in effect since 2026-10-25
Fair by design.
Checked by anyone.
Every decision is published with a hash you can check, and every rule change is a new version, announced first.
Checking the balance history…
City foundersClosed for changes
- Seats: founder seats, squads and elections are closed for changes. No new seat claim, endorsement, objection, squad or resignation is taken, and no country manager election opens.
- On record: seats, terms and results already on record stay as they are, and every published result stays readable with its hash.
- Country managers: a term already under way runs until its end date. Until a country has a manager, the admin covers it.
- The city's coin: new city-coin launches on this launchpad are closed until the Citycoin.dev token is live. Coins already launched keep trading, and a launched coin's design stays locked for good. The ticker is the city's own, so nobody can copy it, and every design and every change is public in the log.
ModerationNobody moderates alone
- Hide: a manager (their country) or an admin, always with a reason. It comes back after 24 hours unless a second moderator confirms it or 3 people reported it.
- Reports: 5 reports hide a post until a moderator reviews it.
- Bans: proposed by one person, approved by a different one; they last 30 days.
- Appeals: once per decision, judged by someone who wasn't involved.
- Public log: every action, with who (role and name), why and what happened. See the log ↗
- Your own feed: you can delete your own posts, and you can mute people. People you blocked, and people who blocked you, do not appear in your feed. Updates come from the city founder, the country manager or Citycoin.dev.
Founding SupportersCounted fairly, with no sign-up
eligible = the lower of (balance at the cutoff) and (average of the last 14 days) pools, bonding curves and team wallets are excluded
- The cutoff is always 00:00 UTC and announced ahead: not scheduled yet.
- Published with a Merkle root and a hash of every input, then 48 hours to challenge before it's final.
- Check any wallet and get its proof on the Launchpad page.
Location & accountsPrivate, and hard to fake
- Your location is read in exactly one place. It returns a signed note naming your community (valid 5 minutes, usable once), and the coordinates are thrown away.
- VPNs, proxies and far-away connections are refused, with one generic answer, so nobody can probe which check they tripped.
- One account per wallet: you sign in with it. It makes fake accounts harder, but no online check can prove someone is one unique person (one person can have several wallets).
- What we keep: your wallet address (it is how you sign in); a made-up username, or one you choose; your home community; and, only if you add it, a phone number you can remove (it is not verified and not used yet). There is no password to keep: you sign in by signing a free message with your wallet, never a transaction. Your coordinates are never stored.
- Member profiles: other signed-in members can open your profile and see your username, home community, bio, wallet address, member-since date, badges and your Citycoin.dev token and city-coin balances. They never see your phone number or your location. You can block anyone, and there is no messaging.
- Sensitive actions, such as moderating, need your wallet proven in the last 30 minutes.
NeverWhat nobody can ever do
- Move, freeze or take anyone's tokens.
- Pick or change a city coin's ticker, or keep a picture that breaks the rules: the ticker is fixed by the Citycoin.dev city list and copied on chain at launch, a picture that breaks the rules is removed, and a launched coin without a picture shows the Citycoin.dev badge.
Rules change only as a new, published version. Seats, elections and snapshots keep the version they were decided under.
